Security and privacy

Privacy isn't a policy. It's how the system is built.

Most tools ask you to trust a promise. Brainside is built so you don't have to: each thing of yours is locked with your own key, you find everything without anyone needing to open it, and the AI works with zero retention — it keeps nothing of yours. Here's exactly how — no jargon, no fine print.

Your knowledge is yours. Period.

Your therapy notes, business ideas, finances, confidential drafts, client data. The things that hurt if they leak. In Brainside, each of them is protected separately — not in one giant block a single key opens, but with different keys, kept in a separate vault. Here, your privacy doesn't depend on our goodwill: it's built into how the system is made.

For most tools, the business model is you

Today's generation of AI tools has a built-in incentive to keep your content. Brainside was designed to remove that incentive.

They store everything you send

Every message, every document you drop into a common AI can end up stored and logged. You lose track of where your content is — and who can see it.

They keep it all in plain text

Without per-user protection, a leak, a curious employee or a subpoena exposes your readable content. You're at the mercy of others' good behavior.

How the protection works, in 3 steps

It's the same kind of protection banks use for their most sensitive data — applied to every piece of what's yours.

01

Each thing of yours gets its own key

Each app you create gets an exclusive key — like a padlock just for it. Different apps, different padlocks. Touching one doesn't open the others.

02

The keys are kept in a separate vault

The keys aren't lying around next to the data. They themselves are locked in a separate, isolated vault — away from the content they protect.

03

Your content is scrambled before it's saved

Before anything goes to storage, it's scrambled with the app's key. What ends up stored is unreadable to anyone without the key — and the key is somewhere else.

You find everything without anyone snooping

There's a classic problem with protected data: if everything is locked, how do you search? The lazy way would be to unlock everything to look — and there goes your privacy. Brainside does it differently: it finds and filters what you're looking for without needing to open your content. You search normally, instantly; what's stored stays locked the whole time.

The AI forgets. Your brain remembers — and it's yours.

Zero retention is a guarantee at the AI layer, at the infrastructure level: the model that processes your content to answer you stores nothing and never trains on you — what's sent is used only to build that answer and discarded right after. What DOES get kept is only what you choose to save in your Brainside — your memory, locked with your key and under your control (you list and delete it whenever you want). That's why Brainside can learn from you without giving up privacy: what remembers is YOUR brain, not the AI provider.

What if you get hacked tomorrow?

It's the right question to ask. The honest answer: whoever took our database would take scrambled files — meaningless, useless text. The keys that open that content aren't kept with it; they live in a separate, isolated vault. Protecting each person with their own key isn't just about privacy — it's your safety net for the worst day.

Who's responsible for what — transparently

Honest security means stating not just what we protect, but where the boundaries are. This is our responsibility model.

Your content, while it's stored

On us

Locked with your key, in a separate vault. Once saved, no one reads what's inside without the key.

When the AI looks to answer you

On us

To answer, the AI needs to glance at the relevant content — this happens in a controlled way and with zero retention: used to answer you and discarded, never kept. We're transparent: it's not magic, it's our responsibility.

When you connect an outside AI or tool

Your way

If you link Brainside to a third-party service, what leaves now depends on it. That's why this flow is controlled: only what you allow goes out, the way you define it — and the choice is always yours.

You control what goes out

When an agent accesses an app, or when you connect an external tool, that data flow is governed by three principles — not by blind trust:

Only what you allow

Each agent and connection sees only what you authorized — an app, some fields, certain actions. No general access by default.

You grant and you revoke

Access is explicit and can be turned off anytime. You grant it, and you revoke it whenever you want.

It's logged

What was accessed is recorded. You can follow it — it's not a black box.

No strings. Yours to take.

Real privacy includes the freedom to leave. You export everything anytime — no hostages, no catch. A product that trusts its own value doesn't need to lock you in by your data.

Questions from people who take privacy seriously

So can you read what I store, or not?

What's saved, no: it's all scrambled with your key. When you ask the AI to answer something, it needs to glance at that moment's content to help you — this happens in a controlled way and with zero retention (used and discarded). We'd rather tell you this clearly than sell an absolute promise that doesn't hold.

What is “zero retention”?

It's how we work with AI: the content sent to it is used only to build your answer in that moment and discarded right after. It isn't stored, isn't logged for later, doesn't pile up. The AI helps you in the moment and keeps nothing of yours.

If it's all locked, how does search work?

Brainside finds what you're looking for without needing to open your content. You search normally, instantly; what's stored stays protected the whole time.

Do I need to understand tech to be safe?

No. The protection comes on by default, on every plan. You don't configure anything or need to understand encryption — just use it. Security is on us.

Can I connect other AIs and tools safely?

Yes — and you stay in control. Every external connection sees only what you allowed, can be revoked anytime, and is logged. What leaves Brainside is always your choice.

How do I know I can trust you?

We treat security as an ongoing priority and designed everything to be verifiable. As we move forward, we publish the results — because trust is built by showing, not by asking.
