Brainside + MCP

Your AI, with your memory. Where you already work.

Connect Brainside to Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT or Codex. The AI can then read and write to your Brain Node and your apps — only with your permission, only in your account.

What it is

MCP is the open protocol that links AI assistants to tools. Brainside speaks MCP: install the Brainside plugin (or paste one address) in your assistant, sign in with your Brainside account, and you're done.

From then on, the AI looks up what you saved in your Brain Node, logs things into your apps and links related items — all on the same data you see inside Brainside. What comes in through one door shows up at every other.

Step by step

Pick where you use AI. In Claude, Claude Code and Codex, install the Brainside plugin: it brings the skill, which tells your AI when to search and when to ask for your OK, plus the connector. In every case, the last step is signing in to your Brainside account and approving.

Rather have your AI do the install? Send it the guide written for AIs: brainside.ai/instalar

Claude

claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps

Works today
  1. 1

On claude.ai (web or desktop), open Customize › Plugins › Add › Add marketplace, type the official repository and confirm. Leave “Sync automatically” off: you update by hand.

    brainside-ai/brainside-plugin
  2. 2

Add the Brainside plugin. In the plugin's Connectors tab, add Brainside: the Brainside screen opens; sign in to your account and approve.

  3. 3

Done. It also works in the desktop and mobile apps, under the same Claude account. The plugin needs a paid plan with code execution turned on.

  4. 4

On the Free plan, add only the connector (without the skill): Customize › Connectors › Add custom connector, with the address:

    https://api.brainside.ai/mcp

Claude Code

terminal

Works today
  1. 1

In your terminal (Claude Code 2.1.292 or later), install the plugin:

claude plugin install brainside --marketplace brainside-ai/brainside-plugin
  2. 2

Start a new session and type /mcp.

    /mcp
  3. 3

Pick Brainside → Authenticate. Your browser opens the Brainside screen: sign in and approve.

  4. 4

Without the plugin (only the connector, without the skill):

claude mcp add --transport http brainside https://api.brainside.ai/mcp

Codex

OpenAI's app and CLI

Works today
  1. 1

In your terminal, add the marketplace and install the plugin:

    codex plugin marketplace add brainside-ai/brainside-plugin
    codex plugin add brainside@brainside-ai
  2. 2

Start a new session. When Codex asks, sign in to your Brainside account and approve.

  3. 3

Without the plugin (or in the IDE extension, which doesn't take plugins), add to ~/.codex/config.toml:

    [mcp_servers.brainside]
    url = "https://api.brainside.ai/mcp"

ChatGPT

chatgpt.com, in developer mode (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans)

Works today
  1. 1

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Security and login and turn on Developer mode.

  2. 2

At chatgpt.com/plugins, click the + button and create a developer-mode app: name Brainside, the server address below and OAuth authentication.

    https://api.brainside.ai/mcp
  3. 3

Sign in to your Brainside account and approve. In a conversation, choose Developer mode from the + menu and turn on Brainside.

  4. 4

Paste the Brainside plugin's block into ChatGPT's custom instructions; it stands in for the skill:

    https://github.com/brainside-ai/brainside-plugin/blob/main/chatgpt/custom-instructions.md
  5. 5

Coming soon to the ChatGPT app store too, with one-click install.

What you can ask

Talk the way you'd talk to a person. The AI picks the right Brainside tool.

“What did I decide about the new supplier this week?”

Searches your Brain Node and answers from what you recorded.

tool: search_nodes

“Log this: I paid the electricity bill today, $184.”

Creates a record in your bills app, with date and amount.

tool: create_record

“Save this decision to my Brain Node: we launch in October.”

Writes the decision to your memory, linked to what's already there.

tool: upsert_node

“Link Ana to the new website project.”

Links the two notes in your Brain Node.

tool: link

Security, in plain words

Sign in every time you connect

Every new connection goes through the Brainside screen. You see who is asking for access and you decide.

Only your account

The AI reaches only the account of whoever approved it. Nobody else's data, nothing outside your account.

Tokens never stored in plain text

Access keys are stored only as a hash. Not even we can read them back.

Switch it off anytime

In Settings → Connected AIs you revoke each AI's access right away, on our side. Disconnecting in your assistant also ends its use there. To come back, you sign in again.

FAQ

What about ChatGPT?

It already works, as a developer-mode app in ChatGPT (steps above), with the same Brainside login. Coming soon to the ChatGPT app store too, with one-click install.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, through the Claude app. Set up the plugin (or the connector) once on claude.ai, on the web or desktop, and it's available in the mobile app under the same account.

Can I revoke access?

Yes, anytime: in Settings → Connected AIs, in Brainside, you see every AI you authorized and revoke its access right away. Disconnecting Brainside in your assistant also ends its use there. To use it again, you'll need to sign in to your account again.

Does the AI save things on its own?

With the current plugin, no: it offers in one line and saves only after your yes; asking it directly (“save this”) counts as the yes. With only the connector, without the plugin, it saves new durable knowledge and tells you in one line. Either way, changing or deleting something, sensitive data, external content and client data need your OK, and it never stores passwords, tokens or keys.

Do I need a Brainside account?

Yes. Brainside is in closed beta: join the waitlist or, if you already have an account, just follow the steps above.

Your memory, in any AI.

One source of truth; many doors in.
